This could quite honestly be the shortest blog post I have every written, but I want you to hear it and soak it in.
God cares about your heart.
As I’ve read about Abraham and Sarah, Isaac and Ishmael, Hagar and Lot, the truth that has pulled at my heart strings is the truth that Jesus cares.
He cared about Abraham’s desire for a child and brought Sarah into that same promise. He called Sarai Princess even though, by all other standards, she was worthless and barren. He met Hagar and heard her cries and the cries of her son when they were sent away. He met Isaac in his grief after his mother died and blessed him with a wife. He welcomed Rebekah into the family because she had a pure heart. He rescued Lot and his family from the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah.
Too often we look at Scripture and we miss the heart. We just see words and stories of people who don’t matter, whose experiences can’t possibly relate to what we’re going through today.
But all of those men and women I just listed, they had hurts and fears and issues. They had dreams and broken hearts and messed up lives. And God met them in the midst of all of that. He showed His great love and grace by coming near and entering into their pain and their issues.
I’m not sure where you are right now. I’m not sure what wounds or hopes you’re facing, what self-doubts or disappointments or joys you know. But know this: Jesus cares far more about where your heart is right now, than you getting everything right and putting on a happy face. He cares and He calls you to come and sit and share it all with Him.
Stop hiding. Stop running. Just let Him hold you for a while and tell Him everything that’s on your heart.
Then listen. Listen to the One who spoke blessing to Abraham, who heard Hagar, who brought about long-awaited promises. Listen as He sings over you.
Simply rest today in that truth: Even when it seems like no one else does, Jesus cares what’s going on, and He’ll meet you exactly where you are.
Live in His love!
