Revive My Heart: A Poem and a Prayer

Revive My Heart a Poem and Prayer

Revive my heart, Dear Jesus

Let my heart be broken wide

Shine your light into the dark corners;

Show me what’s really inside.

Reveal the mess and the muck and gross

Clean it out and make room for more.

More of your promises that stand true for all time;

More of your truth to kick out the lies;

More of your presence, and calm assurances.

More of your grace to whisper your love.

Revive my heart, Dear Jesus

Remind me who I really am

That my identity is not defined

By the past behind

But the presence of you inside.

You fill my heart with mercy

And shower me in your love

You are the one always with me

Reminding me I am enough.

Revive My Heart a Poem and Prayer

Revive my heart, Dear Jesus

Give me eyes to see your hands at work.

Open my eyes to the hurting

Those in need of your love.

Let my ears hear the pain of those slain

By careless and wounding words

Let my lips speak truth and encouragement

To the weak and weary of this world.

Let my heart break and break again

For all the other breaking hearts

And may I shine your love into the darkest corners

As your light continues to penetrate mine.
